MOTHERS DAY SERIES: Kids/toddler shorts or pants upcycling workshop

Join us for a beginner-friendly Mother’s Day workshop where you’ll sip, sew, and create a custom pair of shorts or wide leg pants for a little one in your life — whether that’s your baby, niece, nephew, godchild, a friend’s baby, or just for someone special.

We’ll begin with a brief overview of sewing and machine basics, do some sample stitches to build confidence at the machine. From there, we'll learn how to work with elastic waistbands and explore foundational upcycling techniques as we guide you step-by-step through constructing your pair of pants. 

This class is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to get creative while giving new life to something they already own.

What to Bring:
This is an upcycling-focused workshop, so bring an item to upcycle if you wish! — such as an old pair of pants, skirt, dress, button-down, or some old linens!

Keep fabric amount in mind:

• Baby/toddler sizes require less fabric
• Larger children’s sizes (e.g., 5-10Y) will need more

If you’re unsure about fabric needed, feel free to reach out, I’m happy to help guide you. I’ll also have extra fabric available for use, though the goal is to work with and transform some preloved items you already have for your little!

All other materials(thread, scissors, elastic, etc.), machines and guidance will be provided — just bring your own item to upcycle and we’ll guide you through the pants making process!

Please ensure your machine is in good working condition if you plan to bring your own.

SEWING PATTERN DETAILS:
You will have the choice of using either the River Shorts by Red Creek Patterns (a $12 value) or the Wren Trousers Pattern($12 value) for this workshop. Your ticket includes full access to the pattern, along with a printed copy to use during class.

Both of the patterns include sizing from 1Y to 12Y. Classic, roomy and a little wide in the leg. Perfect for play.
